2012 Regional meeting a success

The 2012 regional meeting of the Anacapa Society was held May 11-12, 2012 at Hamline University. Organized by JiaJia Dong of Hamline University (now at Bucknell University) , Tonnis ter Veldhuis of Macalester College, and Arjendu Pattanayak of Carleton College, the workshop brought together around three dozen participants, with research talks by virtually everyone.

A particular highlight of the conference was the session run by Dr. Keith Dienes of the NSF, who gave inside insights into the grant process. The keynote speaker was Prof. Tim Sullivan (Kenyon College, Physics Dept. Chair), with an additional invited lecture by Prof. Suman Seth (Cornell University, STS).

But most important of all was the range of research interactions, as faculty presented work on topics including dark matter, quantum chaos, fluorescence microscopy, and astrophysical implications of brane-world scenarios.

Congratulations especially to JiaJia Dong for organizing this superb event.
